Ethics for the reality-impaired
In an advisable effort to repair the damage wrought by recent events, yet another proposed code of ethics and disclosure is before the Board of Supervisors, initiated by Supervisor Waters (who has helpfully provided this PDF of the original code proposed by Supervisor Burton in 2004.) This document shows the big empty spaces beside the names of Supervisors Delgaudio, Snow, Staton and Tulloch, who said at the time that they didn’t need to sign it because they already “know what ethics are.” The same four have also declined to sign the currently proposed code.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post points out some other ethical issues by identifying Loudoun’s Clown Prince with the following descriptor:
Supervisor Eugene A. Delgaudio (R-Sterling), a professional fundraiser who runs an anti-gay lobbying group, declined to offer support for the measures, saying he would present his proposals later.
As promised, “professional fundraiser” Delgaudio has offered his own “rules of conduct” to the media, a stunt which demonstrates again (yawn) how seriously he takes his responsibilities. In his peculiar world, ethics is, literally, a joke.
Hat tip to Loudoun Insider at Too Conservative, where one Republican commenter asks when it was that Eugene became “such a complete ass.” We don’t know either, but it isn’t really a recent development, is it? It is nice to see some bi-partisan unity.
Et tu, Patricia? What on earth could Delgaudio’s uncharacteristically defensive comment to this article mean - one imagines a fevered note from the Phillips for Senate campaign (hand-delivered): “Eugene! Please stop ‘helping’ me!”
The implosion continues.

As of this morning, Eugene has borrowed a page from Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and fully engaged the “race card”.
He’s being singled out because he’s an Italian-American.
Huh?
And then there was the whole denial thing regarding the sparring inside the LCRC between moderate Republicans and the wingnuts that still think they are going to push a few more large developments on the taxpayers out here.
Dale Polen-Myers’ juvenile display of foot-stomping and screaming because she was shut down by the moderates should stand in evidence that business is not going to be conducted inside the LCRC with any similarity to the way it was carried thru in 2003.

I just knew I would regret it if I missed that Board meeting
As somebody once said, stuck pigs will squeal.

I did attend the “Theater of the Absurd” as I am calling the 6 February Loudoun BOS meeting. It is nothing that I would recommend that any school children ,who still trust in good government, should witness.
General observations:
1. The “nasty” Republicans who villified the citizens who came to speak to them in the past and dared to disagree with them are running scared.
2. Snow is trying to give us a ’snow job’ again and reminding us all of his Service to our country as an Officer (”once an officer always an officer”) and calling for “civil discourse”. Look in your heart he said and remember that Valentine’s Day is coming soon. Can you feel the Love??? (I thought to myself).
3. Staton professes his innocence of any wrong-doing and he did not need to sign an (Lori Waters) ethics code since his mother and father taught him right from worng. He then went on to blast Jim Burton for saying that people in his (Burton’s district) feel they cannot trust the current BOS. Staton blamed Burton for the mistrust because he dared to call them on their “shenanigans” in public. (Shoot the messenger!!!!)
4. Del Gaudio (”Del’s got to go”) provided the most entertainment. He met visitors at the entrance to the Loudoun Govt. Bldg and handed out bags of peanuts (appropriately I thought ) and wore an “FBI” hat and t-shirt. He says it stood for Full Blooded Italian (I really think it stood for Full Blown Idiot). He was very disruptive at the meeting and ranted against the Washington Post (”They hate me”) and the “Clintonistas”, Geraldine Ferraro, Barney Frank and others. He must be practicing to replace Rush Limbaugh when he gets defeated in November! He interrupted Scott York when he (York) asked for an investigation into the ISA Sale that Dale Polen Myers (DPM) benefitted from as a real estate agent. He later offered 30 spurious amendments to Lori Waters ethics code and also insinuated that he may have to sue the BOS if they pass the code since it will deprive him of free speech and other rights that are needed in order for him to conduct government business. He also made a point of saying that the Republicans are NOT in disarray and that they have selected someone to run for Chair of the BOS and four of the incumbents are being sponsored (does this leave out Burton and Waters and that is not disarray?)
5. Tulloch made it a point of saying that he has been a friend of DPM for a long time and still considers her a friend. At not time however, did she ever try to influence him (why should she have to-he was only doing pay back to the developers who got him into office) on any vote nor did he personally pocket any money as a result of the votes. I think that he may not have pocketed any money because he did not need to since the development community put him in office and he was able to wrest power from the elected Chair (Isn’t this what it is all about-Power?). He then mentioned that he is still pushing for George Mason U. and a Children’s Museum to come to Loudoun County, even though another division of the company he works for, Sedaxo, has contracts with both of them (he said he cleared this with the Commonwealth Attorney and that anyone who wanted to challenge him on this should do so–”Where’s the Love???? ) This all has been hard on his family because they have to read this stuff in the Washington Post where his name is mentioned. (I hope that they read about the federal investigation in the 7 Feb. edition).
It almost is funny when I re-read what I wrote but unfortunatley it is all too serious and I think that we taxpayers have been taken for a ride and had enough of their antics in front of us and behind the scenes (because they do not want to operate in the “sunlight”) November cannot come soon enough!!!!!!!!
