Support for Federal Workers

Loudoun County is home to many federal workers and contractors. While a government shutdown affects the whole country, it really affects many of our Loudoun neighbors who are not being paid. With this shutdown also comes threats of layoffs.

At the start of the year, 17,600 federal workers lived in Loudoun County. Since the shutdown, 4,100 workers have been laid off, though how many of those live in Loudoun isn’t yet known. Now, more are being furloughed by the shutdown and may be fired. Many more federal contractors are being adversely affected.

The next best way to support federal workers is to vote for Democrats in November. Early voting is open now in Leesburg, and expands to four additional locations on Oct. 20.
