What does the Membership Committee do?
We recruit new members to the LCDC to ensure full staffing of all of our positions to promote our goal of electing Democrats to public office.
We support both member and non-member volunteers by matching their interests and skills with our needs.
We provide New membership welcome and orientation events
We handle all aspects of membership processing: vetting applicants, maintaining the membership database, tracking meeting attendance to establish quorum, and tracking dues payments.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a member of LCDC?
Start by filling out our application form. You don’t need to be registered to vote, but you must affirm that you are a Loudoun County resident, a legal U.S. resident (citizen or “green card holder”), and that you believe in the Democratic Party’s values.
What does it cost to be a member?
Membership dues are voluntary, but they are important for carrying out LCDC's mission. Dues are $5 per month; OR $60 each year for the 2024 and 2025 calendar years, OR $100 for the 2024 – 2025 biennial.
Do I need to be a member to participate in LCDC Activities?
No! Meetings are open for attendance by everyone. Meetings and information for attending are on the LCDC Calendar. Much of LCDC’s work is done by Loudoun’s eight Magisterial District committees. You can find your District here and contact your District chair (click through to the applicable District page here to find their email addresses) to learn about District meetings and start meeting other members. To join our email list and receive updates about meetings, events, and volunteer opportunities in your local community, simply fill out this form (NOTE: if you fill out our membership application, there is no need to fill out this email list form…you will automatically be added to the email list). There is no need to join, but of course, we hope you will.
What are the benefits of being a member?
You will be joining a community of like-minded Loudoun residents, who are committed to making our country and community better for all residents. You can meet local candidates and representatives, and have a “front seat” in local politics. You can connect to neighbors and your local community by attending and volunteering for District or Precinct events.
What are the responsibilities of being a member?
LCDC members are the local representatives for the Democratic Party. They determine how the local committee is run and also how local candidates become our official nominees. Members should learn about the important political issues, through attending LCDC meetings and through other LCDC resources. Members are expected to join a Standing Committee of their choice, and to promote Democratic ideals within their sphere of influence.
How can I learn more about LCDC?
If you are not a member, you can explore the website and/or sign up for our email list. And of course, stop by the Store section to display your support for Democratic ideals! LCDC Members can email membership@loudoundemocrats.org for a link to the LCDC Membership Orientation, to learn about an upcoming member orientation meeting, or for help in finding volunteer opportunities.
