Loudoun County Democratic Committee Condemns ICE Actions, Calls for Investigation into Killings and Child Detentions

The Loudoun County Democratic Committee condemns recent actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that have resulted in the second killing of an American citizen by federal immigration agents in Minnesota this month, as well as the detention of children during immigration enforcement operations. These actions are deeply alarming and demand immediate accountability.

The killing of two U.S. citizens by federal immigration agents in the span of a single month raises serious and urgent questions about ICE’s use of force, operational standards, and oversight. This is not an isolated incident. It is a pattern that cannot be ignored.

At the same time, reports of children being detained by ICE, including during routine daily activities, underscore the human cost of an immigration system that has grown increasingly aggressive and unaccountable. No child should be traumatized or taken into custody as part of enforcement tactics, and no family should live in fear of losing a loved one to unchecked government action.

The LCDC calls for an immediate, independent investigation into both killings and into ICE’s broader enforcement practices, particularly those involving children and families. Transparency and accountability are essential to restoring public trust and ensuring that federal agencies operate within constitutional and humane boundaries.

Silence is not an option.

We urge Virginians to contact their elected officials in Congress and demand action and oversight. Constituents should call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and insist that Congress investigate these incidents, hold ICE accountable, and take immediate steps to prevent further loss of life and harm to children and families.

Congress has both the authority and the responsibility to act. Virginians must demand that responsibility be met.

LCDC stands with the families and communities impacted by these actions and will continue to advocate for an immigration system rooted in humanity, accountability, and justice.
